When solicitors or barristers are involved in important cases – those which have the potential to change the law and set the bar of justice for others to follow – it helps to have support so you can convey what’s at stake to the media.
RTS Media has extensive experience in communicating the implications of decisions made in Employment Tribunals, the High Court, Court of Appeal, Administrative Court and the Supreme Court.
Case Study – One interviewee; two interviews; extensive coverage
In May 2014, Maxwell Gillott partner Angela Jackman and her clients received judgement from the High Court in a controversial case involving the rights of a young woman (A) from Northern Ireland. The young woman’s case centred around whether or not she was able to have an abortion paid for by the NHS in mainland UK.
RTS Media provided media relations support to Angela, resulting in a number of live and pre-recorded interviews outside the Royal Courts of Justice which were broadcast on national radio stations and key regional broadcasters.
“I was delighted with the support and reassurance that RTS Media provided to me when in thrall to various media on this particular day,” says Angela.
“I was aware that a controversial case would generate interest, but the practical side to their service in terms of drafting statements for the press, liaising with producers and reporters and generally keeping on top of things was invaluable. Plus they were able to ensure that the Maxwell Gillott brand was mentioned in every piece of coverage. It can be very frustrating when you are interviewed and the name comes up with just ‘lawyer’ as the title. I would certainly recommend to have a firm like RTS Media in your corner when you have a big case about to break.”
